Vamvakou Traditional Guesthouse

Another guesthouse comes along to enrich the experience in Vamvakou! An emblematic building of the village that has fallen in ruins; an old guesthouse that had closed down; memories that were about to fade away come back to life, within the framework of the initiative for the revival of Vamvakou with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The “Traditional Guesthouse of Vamvakou” is restored, opens its doors again to guests and reoperates by the team of Vamvakou Revival.

Upon entering the paved alley of the village, visitors come across an imposing two-storey stone building. Arches, wooden recessed balconies, large windows bring to mind the splendour of the past. A big entrance, a living room with a fireplace, a dining room make up a hospitable place for visitors. Eight beautiful, tasteful and cosy rooms overlooking the lush forest of Mount Parnon are here to inspire carefree moments in a creative and calm ambience. It is a place that emits a sense of familiarity, ideal for the stay of couples or group of friends, also featuring a large gathering space for long hours of relaxation and tranquility.

It is an old mansion of the village that, at some point, was transformed into a guesthouse. The building belongs to the Association of the People of Vamvakou – “Vamvakou” – and was donated by Dimitrios Nikolakopoulos. It first operated as a guesthouse in 1994 following its renovation, expansion and refurbishment that was financed exclusively by G. Tsohonis (PZ Cussons company). The guesthouse operated until 2017. New life is now breathed into one of the jewels of the village, within the framework of the Revival initiative. The place is leased by Vamvakou Revival and is fully equipped with the support of SNF.

Eight double rooms of 10-15 sq. m., three on the ground floor and the other five on the first floor, ideal for the hosting of 2-3 individuals each. A cosy, beautiful space with wooden furniture, large windows, views of the woods and emphasis on comfort as they include one double bed (1.60 x 2m.), armchairs or/and sofa, heating, LCD cable TV, hairdryer and free WiFi. The unique view from their cute balconies towards the lush forest is overwhelming. The common areas are fully equipped (living room, dining room, kitchen) and can be used by the guests.
